Oregon House Passes HPV Vaccine Bill
The article I reviewed for this week was the Oregon House Passes HPV Vaccine Bill. This article was basically explaining that the House voted in favor of a bill that will later go on to the states Senate in order to become a law. This bill requires state-regulated insurance programs to cover Gardasil for females. Human papillomavirus (HPV), is linked to cervical cancer, so it is very important to have preventions. Gardasil is a HPV vaccine that protects against about 70 percent of the HPV strains that are linked to cervical cancer. It was approved for use in girls and women between the ages of 9 and 26 in 2006. Many insurances already cover the vaccine, this bill just seeks to ensure that coverage continues for people who previously have coverage and any new insurance programs. State Representative Deborah Boone said, "This will help innumerable young women from ever having to worry about cervical cancer as they grow older."I think there are ups and downs to medications such as Gardasil. Although it is wonderful to vaccinate early, to avoid a higher risk of cervical cancer, many studies have shown that vaccinations such as Gardasil carry a risk for other illnesses. I think that women need to know their bodies, understand how they work and what they need to be healthy, so if there is any guarantee that this will prevent certain strains of cancer, great.

Crew Honors Captain After Rescue! 4/11
This article is about one of the most recent victories from the US Navy seals snipers. It started when a cargo ship was overtaken by pirates. The captain offered himself as an hostage, in order to let the others go. The five day standoff ended when Navy seals snipers killed three of the pirates and took the fourth hostage. While the Americans won victory with their fight with the pirates, other countrys leaders seem to believe that it won't discourage the pirates at all. After him being rescued he was taken and given a medical examination, where he was in fairly good condition, then sent to another ship, where he was debriefed about the incident, and now he is expected to be flown home to his family, on Tuesday. Captain Phillips, who was said to be resting comfortably, spoke to officials of the Maersk Line, who quoted him as saying: “The real heroes are the Navy, the Seals, those who have brought me home.” Well done to the U.S. Navy Seals, for bringing a man willing to risk his life to free his crew, home.

North Korea Missile 4/4
The article I read this week was titled "North Korea Rocket Stirs Hawks". It was found on the The Nation website. This article was about North Korea sending a nuclear missile into the Pacific Ocean. With these problems approaching, we definitely have a threat about one getting sent into the US soils. It also talks about how crucial it is for all leaders of nuclear countries to support Presidents Obama's and Medvedev's huge effort to achieve the only real and lasting solution to the problem. Which is the elimination of all nuclear weapons. What they are calling Global Zero. The article also says, "talk about a former US Senator Chuck Hagel offering a powerful voice of reason on behalf of Global Zero--an international, non-partisan initiative dedicated to achieving a binding, verifiable agreement to eliminate all nuclear weapons. "
OK, my opinion and always has been, is that North Korea is our biggest fear. I always told my friends and family that we should be more worried about North Korea than anywhere else. When they said we need to worry about Iraq or Afghanistan, I would always so no. North Korea has the strength, power, materials and the funds to do the most destruction. I think we need to do whatever it is we have to do, in order to get everyone on our side. Not necessarily by following their beliefs or anything, but by showing them there is a different style of life. Now I realize that it isn't possible for us to be everyones "friends", but we need to do something to take care of the US. So come on Obama, here is your chance.
